Wedding: Leanna and Aaron

Leanna and Aaron had a beautiful wedding on May 11, 2013 at Branford Evangelical Free Church (BEFC). For those of you that know me, you probably know that my Dad is the pastor at BEFC and I’ve been attending church there my entire life. So, I enjoyed photographing this wedding on many many levels. It was my first time photographing a wedding at my home church, first wedding where my Dad was the officiant, AND it was with a super cool, fun, gorgeous, relaxed couple.

I had a series of mini heart attacks during the week before the wedding as the forecast changed from overcast to a high chance of rain showers. I came  up with some viable options for either re-shooting formals at a later date with more agreeable weather or I figured we could do some creative dramatic portraits using umbrellas. But…I REALLY wanted to photograph by the water in Stony Creek as we had originally planned. After the ceremony, we headed down to Stony Creek to take photos with the couple and their mothers. The weather cooperated JUST long enough for us to get all the shots we wanted.

It started to downpour just as we were wrapping up, so we tried for one neat shot under an umbrella and then ran for cover. Leanna and Aaron were enthusiastic and willing to go along with anything and everything, so my job was nice and easy. Where do I get such amazing clients from?! Seriously…

They had an intimate reception following the ceremony at La Luna in Branford. The food was AMAZING…especially La Luna’s penne with vodka sauce and the cupcakes from Sugar Bakery & Sweet Shop in New Haven. I never like buttercream frosting, but Sugar converted me to a lover of GOOD buttercream frosting and red velvet cake. SO SO yummy. Apparently I could talk about these cupcakes for forever, but this post isn’t about cupcakes…it’s really about Leanna and Aaron’s wedding photos. SO without further ado…enjoy!

Scroll through the cake feeding shots at the end for a fun dropping cake sequence. : )
